What is Youth ALIVE!

It is the mission of the Youth Alive! Mentoring Program to connect youth ages 10-15 that are identified as at-risk/gang involved to a reliable, caring adult who nurtures positive growth. Youth ALIVE! seeks to have a positive impact on participant's gang activity, delinquency, and violence through mentoring, while connecting them to community resources and supports that increase their opportunity for a more productive lifestyle. The program bridges several existing programs and strategies, including the Hartford Peacebuilders Initiative and the Juvenile Review Board. Additionally, the Youth Alive! Mentoring Program aims to increase resiliency and developmental assets to improve academic confidence and sense of self worth. Lastly, the Youth Alive! Mentoring Program seeks to build the capacity to better serve at-risk/gang involved youth.

Youth ALIVE! Mentors

Youth ALIVE! Mentors are responsible adults who are willing to commit eight hours each month toward fostering a positive relationship with a young person. Mentors consist of volunteers from various civic, municipal, education, social service, faith-based, and business sectors. Mentors will have access to funds available for various mentoring activities. Youth ALIVE! Mentors will benefit from receiving on going support and training, as well establish valuable connections with community leaders.
